PRE-COLLEGIATE STEM DISCOVERY PROGRAM PREPARING STUDENTS FOR EDUCATION AND CAREERS IN STEM
The Pre-Collegiate STEM Discovery Program Academy under the aegis of Gildart Haase School of Computer Sciences and Engineering is designed to provide students with comprehensive, meaningful real world learning experiences. The STEM Academy emphasizes increasing students’ mathematics, cyber-security and science knowledge and skills while introducing them to college life and stimulating their interest in science and engineering as a potential career path.
The STEM Academy collaborates with 13 different school districts, all of which have schools in low-income and undeserved populations. In addition to Paterson they are Hackensack, East Orange, Union City, Emerson, Bergenfield, Teaneck, Jersey City, North Bergen, Passaic City, West New York, Lakeland Regional and Manchester. Students are nominated by teachers and administrators from their districts, based on their affinity for STEM disciplines.
